Why people give

Every donor is invited to share what made them choose their shelter or rescue. These are their stories.

  • “My whole life I have had a pet at my side. All rescued or a stray that needed a home. I have volunteered at rescues and shelters for several years, including SD Animal Services, and see how resilient and loving these animals are. The volunteer staff here go above and beyond!! The animals are cared for and I have full trust. Will always support as much as I can.”

  • “It is heartwarming how much the people at the shelter truly care about these babies. I am glad to support our animal shelter with the supplies they need.”

  • “Every year at Christmas, my niece and nephew have used their own money to buy items for the Bakersfield ASPCA and we help them deliver them on Christmas Eve. This spring the have sent both of the elderly dogs, Bella and Rosie across the rainbow bridge. In honor of these beloved companions and family members, we were happy we could support your shelter with you buy a bed campaign.”

  • “I did short term fostering for the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services at the Bonita shelter for about a year. I gave dogs short breaks from the shelter environment to help them reset and feel more calm. Last month I fostered a dog, husky mix Sophie, I decided I could not live without. I adopted her Last March!”

  • “The weather is Bakersfield can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The pups at this shelter deserve to be comfortable until they find their forever home. We’ve adopted two pups from this location and each of them have been great additions to our family.”

  • “I choose Everett Animal Shelter because they are close by & they are committed to saving animals & getting them healthy & to find forever homes. Please donate if you can they depend on our donations”

  • “I am the proud rescue mom of the original Clifford, the dog that was the inspiration behind Clifford’s Army Rescue Extravaganza (CARE). I have rescued many animals in my lifetime and Clifford was the greatest dog ever! Cleveland County Animal Shelter has made great strides since then and I hope this donation continues to help them and the animals they are trying to get adopted.”

  • “My friend, Stacey Hembury, utilized your facility for many years, loving many animals over her life. Her recent passing included a request to help and support your facility, and animals everywhere. Being a no-kill home for animals was an important aspect for her, so I wanted to support her wishes, and my own respect for your mission. Thank you for all you do. Kat”

  • “I am a volunteer at "Collier County Domestic Animal Services" and am proud to be part of the organization. It is a joy to see these animals treated with love and compassion and provided with the best medical care. The volunteers and staff show love and compassion for these dear animals every day, and every attempt is made by everyone at the shelter to get them into foster homes and adopted as quickly as possible. Your dedication, hard work, and love towards these precious souls is a wonderful thing to experience! Thank you so much for taking such good care for them!”

Tom White Gave to Collier County Domestic Animal Services
  • “Please help SPARC save as many as possible by donating to them. They are NO KILL”

Stephanie Metz Gave to Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center
  • “Springdale Animal Services is my local municipal animal shelter. I have volunteered there and I have seen how these dogs and cats are compassionately cared for. But more importantly all 3 of my wonderful dogs were adopted from there! Municipal shelters are never funded to the level required to take all the animals that come in through their doors, so these little things we do enable them to care for these animals in transition.”

Brenda Smith Gave to Springdale Animal Services
  • “I Love Dogs and I Try to Help anyway I Can. SPARC also Saves so many dogs in need and just a small show of Appreciation/Gratitude for All they Do!”

Latasha Gave to Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center
  • “I have a love of animals. I wish I could take them all in. I appreciate local shelters for caring for the lost and homeless animals. I have a house full so in lieu of fostering or adopting anymore I choose to donate money or supplies.”

Local shelters need our help Gave to Humane Society Of Elmore County
  • “The staff there is so amazing and the volunteers are wonderful. We adopted a dog named Jett and we are madly in love with him. They trained him to walk on a leash, and he is a giant gentle Lab/Pit mix. He loves our other two dogs & they are best buddies. We are beyond blessed with our sweet boy!”

Cindy & Jeff Jones Gave to Sangamon County Animal Control & Adoption Center
  • “A woman on Next Door advocates for some of the animals at Barrow County Animal Control and my heart went out to a small 10 year-old senior dog. She just posted and a beautiful husky dog who had been there for just about a year. Wish I could adopt them both but I can’t either of them right now. I pray they find good homes. It looks like Daryl County animal control is doing a good job of trying to take care of the many animals they have and I just wanted to do make a small giftto make the dogs live just a little bit more comfortable.”
