Are Kuranda Beds Chew Proof?

See the Chew Proof Kuranda Bed in action

Our patented bed model makes Kuranda beds chew proof by design. Unlike beds that feature fabrics wrapping around the bed rails, Kuranda beds secure the fabric within a channel in the frame. This makes it totally inaccessible for dogs to chew.

Check out more detailed information on how we construct our chew proof beds! Our Walnut PVC Frame with Heavy Duty Vinyl (Forest Green) is featured below.

Cording is heat welded (or “smelted”) along the edge and within a seam of the Heavy Duty Vinyl fabric. All other fabrics (Cordura, Ballistic, Textilene [Outdoor Mesh]…) come packaged a bit differently; the cording is included and needs to be slid through the channel sewn into the fabric.

The cording and fabric are then inserted into a channel that runs within the length of the rails. Pets can’t get their mouths around the diameter of the rail to access the fabric, making it inaccessible to chew. Some determined chewers can leave teeth marks on the PVC Frame; we highly recommend the Aluminum frame, as it is more durable and will last longer.

The rails are then secured at the corner.

Top and bottom corner brackets connect and secure the rails and enclosed fabric. There are no exposed edges for a pet to grab or chew.

The durable, chew proof design is also backed by our 1 Year Chewproof Warranty (*except for the Textilene [Outdoor Mesh] fabric – this is a woven fabric that is not as durable and can sustain damage from digging).
