Because You Care, Inc. (BYC) is dedicated to the rescue, treatment, and placement of stray and abandoned pets. Because You Care is a volunteer-driven, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1981. Rather than housing pets in cages, BYC pets live with families in volunteer foster homes. Once they are ready for adoption, many of these pets are moved to the adoption center in McKean where the public can visit them. Using this model, the personality, habits, and health of pets are well known, enhancing the ability of BYC to place them in adoptive homes that are a "good match". While at the adoption center, the cats are able to roam freely in the home-like setting and dogs enjoy lounging on their Kuranda beds in their own suite. Comfort for the animals awaiting adoption is very important to Because You Care.
